Cancellation and Refund Policies

No refund is given to students who wish to omit portions of the itinerary. Cancellations due to medical emergencies or U.S. government shut down (such as passport offices) do not guarantee a full refund, and in some cases, may involve no refund.

All cancellations must be submitted in writing to studyabroad@stthomas.edu by sending an e-mail from your UST e-mail account.

UST Study Abroad highly recommends all students purchase trip cancellation insurance. One resource is: insuremytrip.com.

Cancellation Policy for Co-Sponsored Programs

In addition to any charges from the co-sponsored study abroad program, students will be charged the UST Off Campus Study Fee (2015-16: $250 for J-Term/Summer; $600 semester/year) if they cancel after the following dates:

December 1 - January Term and Spring
May 1 - Summer
August 1 - Fall

It is each student’s responsibility to know the cancellation policy for his/her program.

Students are responsible for all payments made on their behalf to their programs by St. Thomas. Withdrawing from most programs once they have begun often does not result in any refund of charges. Withdrawing from most programs prior to departure results in forfeited deposits and any pre-paid program expenses. Carefully review your program’s literature for its refund and cancellation policies.
