Because your experience abroad is primarily and academic endeavor, there are some things you should carefully consider. If for some reason you are unable to find answers to your questions below check the Study Abroad Policies and Procedures booklet you received during orientation, contact your Study Abroad Advisor or contact International Education by emailing: studyabroad@stthomas.edu
Receiving Credit
Students approved by the International Education Center to study on co-sponsored programs abroad are guaranteed elective credit for their course work as long as a passing grade (D or better) is received for the work.
Seeking Course Approvals from Abroad
Once students arrive on site they may find courses that they did not have pre-approved will fulfill major, minor or core requirements. In these cases students may contact the appropriate department chair, their Study Abroad Advisor or they may email studyabroad@stthomas.edu to start the approval process.

Students are responsible for requesting that a copy of their transcript be sent to be sent from their program or university abroad to:

S-D-R Grading Option (pass/fail)
If a student wishes to take a S-D-R grading option; the course cannot be taken to satisfy any core curriculum requirement, no more than 1/8 of the courses taken at St. Thomas may be taken on the S-D-R grading option, Students must complete an S-D-R option form and submit it to the International Education Center within five weeks of the start of the student's semester abroad.
