St. Thomas is a long-term member of the IES Abroad Consortium and more than 100 undergraduate students have studied abroad with IES in the last three years.
IES has faculty teaching and research opportunities at their study centers, one of the benefits to consortium members. Ann Johnson, Director, Center for Faculty Development encourages these international opportunities: “Teaching overseas offers an invaluable opportunity to transform your pedagogical approach through immersing yourself in another culture. And it’s a great away to build a more global perspective into your courses when you return.”

IES Abroad Consortium members are invited to nominate faculty members to teach at IES Abroad Centers during the summer or  fall semester of 2017.   The deadline for applications if March 1.   Faculty members whose interests are parallel with those of the Center can apply to teach in Barcelona, Dublin, Madrid, Berlin, the European Union Program, Milan, Rome, Buenos Aires, London, Paris, Vienna,  or Tokyo.   IES will pay a stipend for teaching one course, cover transportation to the Center, and cover the cost of housing up to $2000 in the summer or $4000 in the fall.   The details of this program and the application procedures are detailed on our website at Associates.
IES Abroad also invites Consortium faculty members to apply for a research associateship at any one of our Centers for this summer or the fall 2017.  The deadline for this program is also March 1.  We cover the cost of transportation to the site and  provide $1000 for housing.  IES staff will assist the associates with research introductions and introduce them to faculty on site in their interest areas.  In the past, we have arranged for associates to give a public presentation at a local university partner.  This program and the application procedures are also described on our website at  the above mentioned page.
